Dental Surgeon

Dr Jim Giannisis graduated from the University of Sydney in 1991, Bachelor of Dental Surgery (B.D.S). He has always been a member of the Australia Dental Association.

He commenced practicing dentistry at Beverly Hills, Parramatta and Werrington with an emphasis on trauma and emergency dental care.

During 1993 he was a locum dental surgeon at Gunnedah, Boggabri, Manilla and Barraba in the New England country district of NSW.

At the end of 1993 Dr Giannisis joined Dr Peter Furey at Rockdale. Many of the original patients and their families still attend the practice.

Dr Giannisis has a special interest in sleep medicine with the prevention and treatment of snoring and obstructive sleep apnoea. In 2010 he was awarded the Somnomed “Platinum” status for sleep apnoea care.

Dr Giannisis is a member of the Society of Endodontology, where saving teeth by root canal therapy (when required) is a priority.

Dr Giannisis believes that he should keep up with dental technology and research by attending as many courses as possible, the ones listed below are to name a few:

Dr Giannisis received an Honorary Fellowship from Faculty of Dentistry Foundation in 1997 for continuing support.

Recently, Dr Giannisis also likes to keep up with latest techniques. “The Wand” anaesthetic technique designed with children in mind, has become a favorite with the young and “young at heart”.

This technique is a very comfortable alternative to injections. He has also introduced the Microscope for dental procedures.

In Dr G’s down time he plays the violin and can be seen in concert every 2nd week at Beverly Hills.

Dr Giannisis had the honour of being the President of The Rotary Club of Rockdale City 2009-2010 where he tirelessly worked for his members and charitable causes.

In addition, he has been an Honorary Dental Surgeon since 1995 for The Spastic Centre (Cerebral Palsy Association) of NSW. He provides voluntary dental care to disabled children at the Alambie Heights Dental Clinic and at The Mona Vale Hospital operating theatres.

Dr Giannisis’ greatest achievement is his beautiful wife and 3 lovely children.
